College Football Week 10 and NFL Week 9 Preview: 11/02 - 11/06

Thursday, November 2nd

What to Watch For

Game of the Day: Titans at Steelers

The Steelers got their butt's handed to them last week and the Titans looked great with Will Levis tearing things up against the Falcons. Can he do an encore on Thursday night? The Steelers will have to navigate the backup quarterback game, so expect a slog with TJ Watt slowing things down on the other end.

Most Entertaining Game: TCU at Texas Tech

TCU, fresh off a title game experience, is sitting at .500. Texas Tech was a sexy preseason team that is 3-5. What gives on Thursday night in Lubbock? If you like good rushing attacks, something I never thought I would've said about Tech, then this will be a fun one for you.

A Game for the Football Crazies: Wake Forest at Duke

Two schools more known for basketball match up on the gridiron. I respect what Duke is building, and the spotlight may be laving after the loss to Louisville, but they can get right against a Wake team that got smacked by Florida State. This could be a beautiful uniform game with the gold helmets of the Deacons and the royal blue of Duke.

Picks of the Day

First Pick: u36 (-108) Titans vs Steelers

Primetime unders are 19-7 this year. Sticking with them.

Friday, November 3rd

What to Watch For

Game of the Day: Boston College at Syracuse

Thomas Castellanos is the leading passer and rusher for the Eagles, so this is worth watching to see what he can do. Northeast football is pretty rough, but these are two teams that try to hold it down. The dome will cook up a high scoring game.

A Game for the Football Crazies: Colorado State at Wyoming

I have never talked so much about Colorado State in my life, but the Deion effect permeates the state. The Cowboys have awesome uniforms and a great defense, so they could maybe slow down the Colorado State passing attack. But Wyoming won't be putting up many points either.

Picks of the Day

Pick: Colorado State +7 (-112) vs Wyoming

Laramie is a tough place to win at, but I think CSU's offense will be too good to lose by 7 or more. Give me the Rams.

Saturday, November 4th

Game of the Day: Washington at USC

Not the SEC ranked on rank? Washington is undefeated, but haven't fired on all cylinders since the win against Oregon. Meanwhile, the Trojans are out of the picture nationally and in a dangerous spot to cause chaos. The Huskies and Ducks have to get to the end of the year with 1 loss or less to get into the playoffs, but surviving the USC onslaught will be the biggest piece.

Most Entertaining Game: LSU at Alabama

This is maybe my favorite game every year. Last year's thriller in Baton Rouge sets up a fun rematch between two coaches with big personalities and two of the most talented rosters in the sport. LSU's defensive secondary is pretty rough, so can Milroe get the ball down the field? The big matchup is Jaylon Daniels vs the Tide's defense, it will be fun to watch.

A Game for the Football Crazies: Army at Air Force

Nothing like a service academy game. Air Force is undefeated, rushes for 300 yards a game with less than 100 passing yards. Who are the only teams that see the option offense in practice every week? The other service academies. Navy slowed down the Falcons and I bet the Knights will do the same.

Picks of the Day

First Pick: Ole Miss -3 (-118) vs Texas A&M

Lane Kiffin has been upset with the Grove tailgate crowd being slow getting into the stadium, but I think they show up for this one. Ole Miss is under the radar this year, but I think they are a team to watch out for.

Second /Third Pick: Army +18.5 (-110) vs Air Force and u33 (-110)

Army knows how to defend the Falcons better than other teams Air Force plays. I think this leads to a game like the one AF played against Navy, low scoring and relatively close.

Fourth Pick: Oklahoma State +6 (-110) vs Oklahoma

The last Bedlam before Oklahoma heads to the SEC. I think this game will be super high energy and chaotic, and I also think close.

Fifth Pick: u50.5 (-110) Purdue vs Michigan

Michigan's defense keeps a lot of unders in play (Sainistril pick-6's aside) and they take the foot off of gas very quickly in the second half.

Sixth / Seventh Pick: USC ML (+145) vs Washington and u76.5 (-110)

76.5 is so high, but could certainly hit. I'll bet this game is played in the 30's, and I think the Huskies trip up in the Coliseum.

Eighth Pick: Alabama -3 (-118) vs LSU

A revenge game for Alabama and I think they can stop Daniels. The Tide still may be a playoff team yet.

Ninth Pick: Oregon State -13 (-110) vs Colorado

Oregon State's physicality matches up well versus Colorado's small lines on both sides. I think Colorado continues to take their medicine this year.

Tenth Pick: Cal +24 (-110) vs Oregon

A classic letdown spot after the big win in Utah. Cal scored 49 against USC, so they do have some firepower.

Eleventh Pick: u55 (-110) James Madison vs Georgia State

Both teams are amazing, deserve more praise, and will play enough defense to stay under this total.

Sunday, November 5th

What to Watch For

Game of the Day: Cowboys at Eagles

A great slate this weekend, but this is the biggest. People talk about the Eagles' problems, but they are a wagon. The Cowboys got embarrassed by the 49ers, but have looked awesome otherwise. What gives in this matchup? If the Cowboys can give Dak space, he can make it a game, but we said the same about Tua.

Most Entertaining Game: Dolphins at Chiefs

Wake up and watch the only game with an over/under above 50 points. The Tyreek Hill revenge game will be so fun to see, both for the in-game fireworks and the post-game handshakes. Will the Chiefs invert their defensive line on third down to get Chris Jones outside, or will they leave him inside to get the inside pressure on Tua?

A Game for the Football Crazies: Buccaneers at Texans

CJ Stroud lost last week, but he has the inside line for Rookie of the Year. The Bucs have a pretty nasty defense, how does he look in this spot? Not a game otherwise worth watching, but maybe have it in the quad box.

Picks of the Day

First Pick: Cowboys +3 (-110) vs Eagles

I think the Cowboys have the talent to win and may do so in the first matchup, only to have a let down later in the year against the Eagles.

Second Pick: u49 (-110) Bills vs Bengals

See note for Thursday night under.

Monday, November 6th

What to Watch For

Game of the Day: Chargers at Jets

The Chargers had a big game against the Bears and face another backup quarterback, but a stiffer defense. Herbert is finally getting all the primetime games, let's see how he does.

Picks of the Day

Pick: u41.5 (-112) Chargers vs Jets

See note for the Sunday night under.

Season Totals

College Football Picks: 26-23-1 (+1.57 units)
NFL Picks: 16-13-2 (+1.82 units)
Overall: 42-36-3 (+3.39 units)
