Army-Navy and NFL Week 14 Preview: 12/07 - 12/11
Army-Navy and NFL Week 14 Preview: 12/07 - 12/11
Absolutely brutal weekend last week for my picks, but hope the games were fun nonetheless! A lighter week before the bowl games kick off, but here are my thoughts on the NFL and Army-Navy.
Thursday, December 7th
What to Watch For
Game of the Day: Patriots at Steelers
These two teams had such amazing battles in the 2010's and are both finding out what life is like without a Hall of Fame quarterback in the 2020's. I think this could be a great spot to sprinkle on TJ Watt for DPOY as he is currently 3rd in odds but has a string of games where he can rack up sacks.
Picks of the Day
Pick: u30 (-112) Patriots vs Steelers
Primetime unders bombed last week, but we keep the faith.
Saturday, December 9th
Game of the Day: Army vs Navy (Foxboro)
The first Army-Navy game happened in 1890, with the game becoming an annual tradition in 1930. These two programs have storied history, with Heisman winners and the like. Now, both execute a disciplined style of option football and the game is not a part of the picture for New Year's Day bowls. It is still one of my favorite games of the year, and this year the winner goes bowling. Alex Tecza is the fullback for the Midshipmen and everything will flow through him, while the Black Knights will use Bryson Daily's option mastery at the quarterback position to try and win.
Picks of the Day
Pick: LOOKAHEAD u29.5 (-110) Army vs Navy
This line has dropped 2 points, so I hope you got it last weekend.
Sunday, December 10th
What to Watch For
Game of the Day: Eagles at Cowboys
Thank goodness these teams have gotten good, because NFC East games are always in primetime anyways. The Eagles got roughed up a bit last week but head to Dallas, who could now compete for the 1 seed in the NFC with a win. Does Shaq Leonard sign with the winner next Monday?
Most Entertaining Game: Bills at Chiefs
Whenever I see this matchup, I think about the 13 second drive to win it for the Chiefs. What an awesome two minutes of football that was. Now, both teams have struggled, for different reasons, but Allen vs Mahomes is always exciting. It'll still be a close game, just look a lot different than previous versions.
A Game for the Football Crazies: Vikings at Raiders
What do the Vikings do coming off the bye? Did they piece together who is playing quarterback, and gets to face Maxx Crosby? The Raiders seem to have found their identity on offense, it's just not a great identity. I hope those Minnesotans packed their sunscreen, a lot of paleness on the Strip this weekend.
Picks of the Day
First Pick: Vikings -3 (-110) vs Raiders
I think O'Connell figures it out coming off a bye. There will be some new wrinkles and they get this win.
Second Pick: u47.5 (-112) Bills vs Chiefs
I'll bite, even though I'll probably look like an idiot. The Chiefs will love that the Bills are inconsistent on offense and the Chiefs just don't have the downfield weapons right now.
Third Pick: u53 (-108) Eagles vs Cowboys
Primetime unders, we can't run away after one bad week.
Monday, December 11th
What to Watch For
Game of the Day: Titans at Dolphins
The Dolphins are heavy favorites, but something tells me this could be close. I think Vrabel has built a system down there and those guys play hard. Factor in the run game to bleed the clock, and it could be a dog fight.
Most Entertaining Game: Packers at Giants
Jordan Love gets all the praise, so we will see what the lowly Giants have awaiting him. Jabrill Peppers doesn't seem to believe in the G-Men, but I think they can fight a bit still.
Picks of the Day
First Pick: u47.5 (-110) Titans vs Dolphins
Primetime unders. Let's bounce back.
Second Pick: Giants +7 (-115) Packers vs Giants
No one stays high all the time in the NFL, I think the Packers have a sluggish night after all the praise for beating the Chiefs.
Season Totals
College Football Picks: 43-40-3 (+5.34 units)
NFL Picks: 26-28-4 (-4.17 units)
Overall: 69-68-7 (+1.17 units)
