College Football Week 10 and NFL Week 9 Preview: 11/02 - 11/06

College Football Week 10 and NFL Week 9 Preview: 11/02 - 11/06 Thursday, November 2nd What to Watch For Game of the Day: Titans at Steelers The Steelers got their butt's handed to them last week and the Titans looked great with Will Levis tearing things up against the Falcons. Can he do an encore on Thursday night? The Steelers will have to navigate the backup quarterback game, so expect a slog with TJ Watt slowing things down on the other end. Most Entertaining Game: TCU at Texas Tech TCU, fresh off a title game experience, is sitting at .500. Texas Tech was a sexy preseason team that is 3-5. What gives on Thursday night in Lubbock? If you like good rushing attacks, something I never thought I would've said about Tech, then this will be a fun one for you. A Game for the Football Crazies: Wake Forest at Duke Two schools more known for basketball match up on the gridiron. I respect what Duke is building, and the spotlight may be laving after the loss to Louisville, but they ca...

Thoughts on College Football's Week 9 and NFL Week 8

Thoughts on College Football's Week 9 and NFL Week 8 1. Best of the Week Best Game: Oklahoma vs Kansas Anytime we end up with a goal post in a body of water, we know it was the game of the week. Last week, Oklahoma hung on by the skin of their teeth. This week, they couldn't pull the rabbit out of the hat. An early pick 6, a touchdown with 55 seconds, and a Hail Mary that hit the turf were the three plays that fans will remember after a lightning delay meant this game lasted over four and a half hours. What a great win, good luck in the SEC, Oklahoma. Best Player: Will Levis (QB) - Titans Will Levis got his first start of his career yesterday and looked amazing for the Titans, going 19-29 and throwing 4 touchdowns against 0 interceptions. Levis was an interesting draft prospect and when he didn't go in the top 5 he plummeted. For at least one game, he got the last laugh. Is this the changing of the guard in Nashville? It kind of felt like he was a younger, more athletic R...

College Football Week 9 and NFL Week 8 Preview: 10/26 - 10/30

College Football Week 9 and NFL Week 8 Preview: 10/26 - 10/30 Thursday, October 26th What to Watch For Game of the Day: Buccaneers at Bills The Bucs have a great front and the Bills go away from the run faster than Jason Garrett and Tony Romo. But if the Bills want to get to where they need to go they can't just have deep shots and Superman efforts from Allen and Diggs. I'll be watching James Cook, not just because he's on my fantasy team, but because he is a great back for this team with his rushing and great work in the short passing game. A Game for the Football Crazies: Georgia State at Georgia Southern This will be an insane game though, highly recommend watching a bit since there is a break in postseason baseball and no one wants to watch Tampa. Picks of the Day First Pick: u63 (-112) Georgia State vs Georgia Southern This is a big game in the Sun Belt conference and a rivalry game. I think both teams will be juiced for this one and will have some sloppy play, leadi...

Thoughts on College Football's Week 8 and NFL Week 7

Thoughts on College Football's Week 8 and NFL Week 7 1. Best of the Week Best Game: Browns vs Colts Who would've thought that a game that featured a top 5 defense and 2 backup quarterbacks would end 39-38? And who would've thought all this could happen as the Colts were uniforms supporting never-nude and known Blue Man Groupie Tobias Funke? This game was pure chaos, with controversial refereeing, big special team's plays, and chunk plays through the air. Something for everyone's flavor of football. Best Player: Myles Garrett (EDGE) - Browns Garrett is a player that could get this award every week, he is a top-tier pass rusher and maybe the best. The way he fights through double teams seemingly every snap and gets his while letting the rest of the team eat is impressive. But in a game when the defense didn't have it, he had two sacks, a blocked field goal, a passed defense, and 10 total tackles from the defensive line. What a stud. Best Uniform: Western Kentuck...

College Football Week 8 and NFL Week 7 Preview: 10/19 - 10/23

College Football Week 8 and NFL Week 7 Preview: 10/19 - 10/23 Thursday, October 19th What to Watch For Game of the Day: Jaguars at Saints Trevor Lawrence feels optimistic that he will play, but this will be a fractured gameplan for the Jaguars as they try to go into the Super Dome and squeak out a win. The Saints also feel like they are just trying to hang on after being the clear favorite in the division to start the year so this would be a big win for either team. A Game for the Football Crazies: James Madison at Marshall The Sun Belt still delivers, and undefeated James Madison heads to Marshall. Marshall can feel really Jekyll and Hyde as a program, with that big upset at Notre Dame last year and then some lackluster results. But I think it will be relatively close as they are the home team. Picks of the Day First Pick: James Madison -3.5 (-110) vs Marshall The Dukes are rolling this year and are ripe for an upset, but I will ride with them as they head over to West Virginia ...

Thoughts on College Football's Week 7 and NFL Week 6

Thoughts on College Football's Week 7 and NFL Week 6 1. Best of the Week Best Game: Oregon vs Washington Most Big Ten athletic directors after watching these two heavyweights fight it out, knowing they'll never play in the Big Ten title game after this season. This game had everything. Momentum swings, a quarterback battling injuries, big defensive plays, awesome atmosphere, crazy Oregon uniforms. It was amazing. I can't wait to go to Seattle and see that atmosphere here in the next few years after seeing a game like this. Best Player: Quincy Williams (LB) - Jets The Jets are 3-3 without Aaron Rodgers, played the Eagles on Sunday without Sauce Gardner, and got the upset win. Quincy was everywhere, getting 12 tackles, several key stuffs that made the Eagles get pass happy, and got a fumble recovery. J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS, JETS! Best Uniform: Tampa Bay Buccaneers IT’S HAPPENING 🧡 pic.twitter.com/DG48DzitWr — Tampa Bay Buccaneers (@Buccaneers) October 15, 2023 I really enjoy ...

College Football Week 7 and NFL Week 6 Preview: 10/12 - 10/16

College Football Week 7 and NFL Week 6 Preview: 10/12 - 10/16 Thursday, October 12th What to Watch For Game of the Day: Broncos at Chiefs Russell Wilson, not Drew Brees. I don't think he has looked terrible, but there are issues with this Broncos team. The Chiefs are working through injuries to Kelce and Mahomes on a short week. Will this game be ugly? Yes. I hate short week football, it just doesn't allow the players to rest up and the coaches to come up with the best game plans. A Game for the Football Crazies: West Virginia at Houston The Dana Bowl! Both these programs have fallen under tough times, but the Cougars head coach's history at both schools ensures there will be some spiciness. I'm not going to watch, but if you need something on, football is here. Picks of the Day Pick: Broncos +11 (-112) vs Chiefs I think the Chiefs win, but they are banged up and I think they simplify things, squeak out a win, and get right with the mini bye. Broncos' country, let...

Thoughts on College Football's Week 6 and NFL Week 5

Thoughts on College Football's Week 6 and NFL Week 5 1. Best of the Week Best Game: Texas vs Oklahoma Another great Red River Rivalry that lived up to the former shootout name. Dillon Gabriel was the entire Oklahoma offense and he carried the load well. Quinn Ewers had three costly turnovers and the Sooners were able to march down the field and win it at the end. This matchup will likely get run back in Dallas for the Big 12 Championship, so that is something to look forward to. Texas has looked so buttoned up this year and the magic ran out on Saturday with mistakes everywhere, well done Oklahoma taking advantage of them. Best Player: JaMarr Chase (WR) - Bengals You have to love it when a player talks the talk and then walks the walk that next weekend. Chase told everyone he's always open and he ran wild through the Cardinals' secondary. 15 catches, 192 yards, and 3 touchdowns. What a stud. Best Uniform: Arizona Cardinals HERE WE GO! pic.twitter.com/7nCCfl92wY — Arizona ...

College Football Week 6 and NFL Week 5 Preview: 10/5 - 10/9

College Football Week 6 and NFL Week 5 Preview: 10/5 - 10/9 Thursday, October 5th What to Watch For Game of the Day: Bears at Commanders Al Michaels is going to be pithy on the call in this one. Sam Howell has done well this year, and the Bears showed some life last week, but this looks rough. Could the over be in play? Both teams have given up a ton of points but are hit and miss at putting some up themselves. A Game for the Football Crazies: Sam Houston State at Liberty Liberty has had a good start to the year and have a program builder in head coach Jamey Chadwell. I won't be watching, but you do you if you need some college football. Picks of the Day Pick: u44.5 (-110) Bears vs Commanders The under has hit a lot in primetime this year (often when I don't bet it). Let's try to capitalize on the trend this weekend. Offenses are heating up (shocker that it took 3 weeks when teams don't play starters during the 3 week preseason, what a coincidence) so this could be ol...

Thoughts on College Football's Week 5 and NFL Week 4

Image
Thoughts on College Football's Week 5 and NFL Week 4 1. Best of the Week Best Game: Notre Dame at Duke Another Golden Domer game picked? This is why you bring Sam Hartman in. Duke has the biggest game of their program, Gameday, night game, no longer having a track around the stadium. The Irish struggled, but finally had the quarterback to bail them out. I think Notre Dame has some things to figure out before USC comes to town, but they have a great signal caller, some talent on the outside, a great running back, and a defense that doesn't break (when they have 11 men on the field). Best Player: Stefon Diggs (WR) - Bills 6 receptions, 120 yards, and 3 touchdowns. What a stat line. All week the Dolphins were the darlings of the media and Tyreek Hill was the receiver getting hyped up. Diggs showed up and balled out. When he juked two defenders into each other and took it to the house was the back breaker in the game. What a fun talent and good for Buffalo having someone who pair...
