Mega-Blog!!: Thoughts from Last Week plus Bowl Week 3 and NFL Week 17 Preview: 12/28 - 1/1 Hope everyone is enjoying the weirdest week of the year when time has no meaning and you eat pie with every meal (just me?). Take a break from wiggling your mouse and bleeding out the clock if you're working and read a fun blog! 1. Best of the Week Best Game: Patriots vs Broncos The NFL doesn't miss, does it? What felt like a snoozefest on Christmas Eve turned into a thriller, with the Pats pulling off the comeback that was the final nail in the coffin for Russell Wilson's Bronco career.  Best Player: Darius Taylor (RB) - Minnesota The Gopher's freshman running back balled out in his home town of Detroit in the Quick Lane Bowl with 35 carries, 208 yards, and a touchdown. There have been a ton of running backs going off in bowl games, but for a freshman to tote the rock 35 times the day after Christmas in his home town is a big one. Best Uniform: Miami Dolphins Throwbacks on Chri...

Bowl Week 2 and NFL Week 16 Preview: 12/21 - 12/27

Bowl Week 2 and NFL Week 16 Preview: 12/21 - 12/27 We stick with the same way of breaking down the week ahead as last week, let's keep making money. College Football Bowl Week 2 What to Watch Game of the Week: Texas A&M vs Oklahoma State A game of two former conference rivals, this should be entertaining. The Aggies will have their new coach around, they have an opt out, and on the other side you have Mike Gundy being Mike Gundy and a Cowboys' team that had a good season but underperformed in the spotlight. This will be a fun one of two brands. Most Entertaining Game: Georgia Tech vs UCF Georgia Tech has rebounded from being one of the worst Power 5 teams to being quite respectable. The Knights had a decent first year in the Big 12 and Gus Malzahn will no doubt have some awesome things cooked up for UCF. This will be a great Friday night watch heading into the Christmas weekend. A Game for the Football Crazies: Kansas vs UNLV Kansas has one of my favorite offenses to wa...

Thoughts on College Football's First Bowl Week and NFL Week 15

Thoughts on College Football's First Bowl Week and NFL Week 15 1. Best of the Week Best Game: Browns vs Bears What a sloppy, gross, wonderful football game. We were graced with cutaways to Cleveland fans in brown and orange Santa hats and trash bags to avoid the rain, there were five interceptions, and the Bears almost pulled off a Hail Mary to win. It was the full Flacco experience, a roller coaster of a football game. Best Player: Christian McCaffrey (RB) - 49ers McCaffrey was everywhere on Sunday, as he always is, with 2 receiving touchdowns and 1 running. I would argue that he is the MVP of the league; everything that offense does is based on his unique abilities. The catch down the sideline where he dove to catch it, got up, and scored was the highlight I will remember from this one. Best Uniform: Appalachian State vs Miami (OH) Both teams had great tribute jerseys for the Cure Bowl but the rain added an extra element of fun to this one with so many fumbles and sliding every...

Mega-Blog: Thoughts on NFL Week 14 plus Bowl Week 1 and NFL Week 15 Preview: 12/14 - 12/20

Mega-Blog: Thoughts on NFL Week 14 plus Bowl Week 1 and NFL Week 15 Preview: 12/14 - 12/20 Combining the blog back this week, finals has gotten the best of me. Only one thought and no play breakdown, but we will have more content next week. 1. Best of the Week Best Game: Titans vs Dolphins We had to wait until Monday night for the game of the weekend but it delivered. The Titans ran a master class in the first half on how to muck up the game, making Tua's reads difficult and causing him to hold onto the ball. On the flipside, I loved seeing the Titans make defined reads for their young quarterback by splitting Derrick Henry and Tyjae Spears out wide so the Dolphins had to show if they were in man or zone pre-snap. The biggest spread of the NFL weekend ended up being an outright loss, absolutely brutal for the Phins' hopes of getting home field advantage in the playoffs. Best Player: Brevon Easton (WR) - Albany FCS quarterfinals were this past weekend and there were some big g...

Army-Navy and NFL Week 14 Preview: 12/07 - 12/11

Army-Navy and NFL Week 14 Preview: 12/07 - 12/11 Absolutely brutal weekend last week for my picks, but hope the games were fun nonetheless! A lighter week before the bowl games kick off, but here are my thoughts on the NFL and Army-Navy. Thursday, December 7th What to Watch For Game of the Day: Patriots at Steelers These two teams had such amazing battles in the 2010's and are both finding out what life is like without a Hall of Fame quarterback in the 2020's. I think this could be a great spot to sprinkle on TJ Watt for DPOY as he is currently 3rd in odds but has a string of games where he can rack up sacks. Picks of the Day Pick: u30 (-112) Patriots vs Steelers Primetime unders bombed last week, but we keep the faith. Saturday, December 9th Game of the Day: Army vs Navy (Foxboro) The first Army-Navy game happened in 1890, with the game becoming an annual tradition in 1930. These two programs have storied history, with Heisman winners and the like. Now, both execute a discip...

Thoughts on College Football's Conference Champ Weekend and NFL Week 13

Thoughts on College Football's Conference Champ Weekend and NFL Week 13 1. Best of the Week Best Game: Oregon vs Washington We have to start with this one. Washington, undefeated Washington, were 10 point dogs to everyone's favorite one-loss team, the Ducks. The Huskies played like a team that was disrespected, and were up big at half. Oregon responded, the most physical team west of Texas moving the ball down the field. But Washington can wreck the most sound gameplans because they have the best downfield passing quarterback paired with a bunch of amazing receivers. It was a thing of beauty to see those crossers beat Oregon's cover 3 on Friday night, and a testament to showing up and shutting everyone up. Best Player: Dak Prescott (QB) - Cowboys Dak has become this generation's Kirk Cousins. He's good, you can win a lot of games with him, but you know he's not THE guy. Throw in the fact that as the Cowboy's quarterback he gets a ton of endorsement deals, ...
